These are a few of my favorite things
Happy place #2 - San Francisco. If I can't be at the beach staring at the waves, I'll happily accept option #2, my city by the bay. I can drive to the Ferry Building in about 45 minutes and suddenly I'm in grown up ville. People in the city are simply more stylish and sophisticated. Not dummy-ing myself down here, but there is just something that makes me want to add a scarf and square glasses to my wardrobe. After taking the kids a few times, my extremely picky one has picked up a $27/lb Capricious goat cheese fetish. She actually saves her money for when we go there (we all gotta have goals, eh? here's five bucks, how much can I get?) I'd never waited in the 30+ minute line for Blue Bottle Coffee, but our friend Neil was quite the evangelist about it and we had nothing but time so we waited. So worth the wait. My freshly roasted that morning cappucino was truly the best I've ever had (even better than Italy).
My coffee was lonely, so in to Frog Hollow for a yummy peach turnover (Doug had berry). They also have jams and chutneys. Guess we'll try those next trip.
If you are a chocolate "whore", my apologies. I am not. Doug craves it daily, but what can I say? I'm a butter, flour, sugar lover so it doesn't "call" me as it does him. But then I met Michael. And we fell in love. One bite of a Recchuiti chocolate and you may cross over to the dark side. Literally. It's so dark and rich and lovely you can eat just one (unlike See's where you have to eat 7 or 8 ;-)). Cardamom Nougat, Bergamot Tea and Fleur de Sel are my favs. It could work for us Michael!
I'm still trying to decide if I'm being more green shopping at the farmers market in SF if I'm driving there. Yes I know I can shop at ones by my house, but how can you not leave a carbon footprint if you know you can get some of these....
or these Lemon Cucumbers (which don't taste like lemon, but are pretty)
or happy bread like this...

Ok, I need you to bring me back a coffee and one of those amazing breads. :D
