Ok, so this is my BFF's (best blog friend, Mel) husband Gary from South Africa. Not a great pic of him, but the other one is really bad of me, so there! It's a self portrait, hey! I was so excited to meet the closest thing to her! I dropped the baby clothes and he even sat and chatted with me. It was all a bit weird cuz he didn't seem like a stranger. So nice! The whole exchange made my day. Confirmed that blog friends are probably like what you think. Too bad Melly wasn't here, too! I keep trying to tell her how much she'd like it here....
I used to make fun of my mom that she liked talking to strangers. In the grocery line. Our waiter at restaurants. On a plane. uuggghh. Well guess what? I don't talk to strangers on planes, groceries or restaurants, but I do understand her desire to connect. It was the best part about our road trip - the strangers we met. I love hearing people's stories. Fascinating, really. And guess what? Everyone has a story. I think I may make a coffee table book....That would be a good project for me. Travel the world and ask people questions about themselves and take silly pictures of them. Note to self....
My pal Jody and I saw the movie Revolutionary Road (yes, in the middle of the day) yesterday. It's one of those really well written, well acted, super depressing movies. Loved Kate and Leo, tho. It also poses the question...Who would you be if you weren't doing your life?....What would your dream life look like?? I think I would travel and talk to people, and make birthday cakes for homeless kids...and you???
And here is Gary looking swell! Good guy, solid choice Miss Mel!

What a darn handsome chap!

Hey, it's tha famous Mr Mel! Glad to see he's fully recovered from his back op :) As for talking to strangers, my mom used to as well, and I'd roll my eyes in teenage fits of embarrassment. Now I find myself doing the same thing - I think it's the main reason why I'd like to come and live in the USA: there's a LOT more of it going on there than here in London :)
